Us and God

We matter to God. He made us and wants to have a relationship with us.

However, we have all rebelled against God by trying to run our lives without reference to him. That rebellion breaks our relationship with God.

To varying degrees, most of us are aware of our distance from God, so we start doing things to get back to him (like good works, going to church, giving to charity etc.) There is nothing wrong with these but the bible is clear that we still fall short of God's perfect standards - we can't earn our right to God's forgiveness and a restored relationship with Him.

Furthermore, God's justice means that our rebellion will lead to the death of being separated from God forever.

But the good news is that we matter to God so much that He did for us what we could never do for ourselves. He bridged the gap between us and Him by sending Jesus to die in our place on the cross so we could be forgiven and come into a restored relationship with Him.

We have to act on what God has done. We need to admit that we have rebelled and are cut off from God and walk into relationship with God by accepting his forgiveness.
