Future’s Fear?

Future’s Fear?

“What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” asks Sheryl Sandberg. It’s a good question as it’s easy for fear to freeze our hearts and cloud our minds. The thing is that just saying ‘I refuse to give in to fear’ doesn’t make the causes of fear go away. That’s why Ecclesiastes chapter 11 that we looked at on Wednesday lunchtime is so helpful. It faces up to the causes of fear – uncertainty and certainty. In terms of the uncertainties of future events we learnt to invest with a joy and freedom that doesn’t rely on the outcome but relies on the Lord of outcomes. In terms of the certainties of the future and the judgement to come we learnt to let the Lord take that judgement and remove your fear.

One certainty not to fear is the Twenty reunion weekend we’re holding in September. Please book up for the events, bring friends and let others know who’ve been at Saint James over the years (lot’s don’t receive this email and we’d love to make contact with them again). See details below and visit www.jc-church.org/reunionMuch love
AndrewThrough present sufferings, future’s fear,
He whispers ‘courage’ in my ear.
For I am safe in everlasting arms,
And they will lead me home.
